Whitney Elizabeth Houston was conceived to a musical family 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey. Whitney is the daughter and cousin to the singing sensation Dionne. She began singing in the choir at her church The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark as a young child and by the age of 15, she had begun singing backing vocals professionally with their mother in Chaka Khans 1978 hit Im Every Woman. Then she went on to sing backing vocals with Lou Rawls, Jermaine, as well as her mom. In 1981, she began working as a singer with the New York-based funk group Material. Though the movie was not very well received, nor was her performance, the soundtrack of her Dolly Parton version I Will Always Love You hit the number one spot on both the singles and album charts in America for a period of time. She sold 44,000,000 copies. It was also in 1993 that she married Bobby Brown, an ex-New Edition artist and father of her sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. About this time her well-documented drug use started and in 1996, the singer used to use drugs every day.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN political reporter and anchorwoman.
